Balfour Beatty in Essex

Balfour Beatty provides highway maintenance services on behalf of Essex County Council, covering the boroughs of Colchester, Tendring, Braintree, Maldon and Chelmsford.

Essex County Council awarded Balfour Beatty the five-year contract in 2006, which includes maintenance of Highways and Public Rights of Way, and winter service.

We employ 380 people in our team in Essex, who resurface hundreds of roads, repair thousands of potholes and undertake hundreds of gritting runs, using tens of thousands of tonnes of salt.

Balfour Beatty is bidding to go into partnership with Essex County Council for a new highways and transportation strategic partnership covering all of the county. The new contract includes highways infrastructure maintenance, improvement works, professional consultancy services, Intelligent Transport Solutions, street lighting and Public Rights of Way
